Ever wondered why finding an allergen-safe restaurant still feels impossible? Meet Dine Find, the Canadian web app created by two foodies with dietary restrictions who turned frustration into innovation. With 17.5 million Canadians living with dietary restrictions like gluten intolerance, dairy allergies, or vegan preferences, dining out shouldn’t feel like a guessing game. That’s why Dine Find makes it easy to discover allergen-friendly restaurants across Canada, filtering menus in real time so you know exactly where it’s safe to eat. This blog tells the story of how two founders turned their allergy struggles into a tool for inclusive dining—proving that when food lovers and food allergies face off, food lovers finally win.
It started with a simple question: “Why is finding an allergen-safe place to eat STILL so hard?”
Then came our answer: It’s not. At least, not anymore.
HERE’S A FOOD FACT: There’s almost 200 food allergens and dietary restrictions in the world! That’s way too many to keep up with, so, to keep things simple, let’s bundle them all into an easy to remember category. We’ll call them… “Tummy Taboos.”
Tummy Taboos suck. Big time. 17.5 million Canadians have one, which is roughly half of the population. That means there’s a 50% chance that YOU have a Tummy Taboo. Trust us, we feel your pain. We have Tummy Taboos too, but we’ll circle back to that in a moment…
HERE’S A FRUSTRATING FACT: Canadians with Tummy Taboos have a really hard time finding good food-friendly places to eat. Now, don’t get us wrong here. Canada has THOUSANDS of great places to sit and dine, but the trick for Tummy Taboos is finding a place where the food won’t trigger an allergic apocalypse. That might sound a bit extreme, but you’ll just have to trust us on this, folks… The struggle is real.
FINALLY, HERE’S A FUN FACT: Tummy Taboos is why we created DineFind.ca.
It’s a web-based app that dine-dives into every menu Canada has to offer. Then it filters what it finds into tummy-friendly options, so that people with Tummy Taboos have a quick and easy guide on where it’s allergen-safe to eat. We also threw in ratings and reviews, so that you know which places get the thumbs up.
Oh, and speaking of thumbs up… Yes, the Dine Find web app is always updating. In real time.
ONE LAST FRIENDLY FACT, TO GO: We mentioned earlier that the two creators of DineFind have Tummy Taboos. It’s true. One is gluten and dairy intolerant, and the other is vegetarian and egg-free. So we know the struggle. And we solved the struggle.
